Bay Microsystems Debuts Solutions to Take Distance Out of Data
Bay's FX-50 and MaxDX products enable movement of large amounts of data in a lossless, timely and predictable manner and allow access to remote data as if it were local.

SAN JOSE, Calif., April 25, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Bay Microsystems announced today at the National Association of Broadcasters, NABSHOW® in Las Vegas, the worldwide release of the first member of its next generation high speed WAN extension appliance, FX-50, and the release of the enhanced version of its Max Data XchangeTM (MaxDXTM) solution.

The FX Series products now becoming available are a replacement for Bay's Intelligent Bandwidth Exchange (IBExTM) appliances. The legacy products have been deployed across extreme distances within mission critical US Government and DoD networks since 2006 and were an integral component of Bay's first generation MaxDX data solution, which was first commercially adopted by NFL Networks. FX Series in combination with the upgraded capabilities of the MaxDX platform and MaxDX Manager™ software will enable much greater density of configurable interfaces in a compact form factor, scalable performance from satellite rates to 100Gbps, resource/performance monitoring and ease of integration into existing infrastructures.

"With our entry into the commercial markets our customer prospects and partners repeatedly question our ability to achieve our performance claims. So, when recently challenged by a Tier 1 partner to show Bay's ability to move 6TB in less than 4 hours over several thousand miles, we moved 100TB in ~23 hours between Maryland and California over a standard 10G link without compressing or otherwise manipulating the source data," said Harry Carr, CEO and President of Bay Microsystems. He also added, "MaxDX's latest release leverages our next generation FX-50 product in a tightly integrated, converged compute and storage platform to bring capabilities to virtually any enterprise that have only been available historically with High Performance Computing products."

Bay's products enable instantaneous access to or transfer of data across regions, countries and continents resulting in compelling benefits:

  • Streamlined distributed workflows
  • Elimination of unnecessary data replication
  • Real-time access to data in remote and economical locations
  • Synchronous and asynchronous data replication for seamless BC/DR
  • Maximum utilization of available network links
  • More performance from existing infrastructure
  • Reduction in deployment time with an intuitive end-user experience
